Mobility & Medical Aid Distribution
Aiding Vulnerable Communities with Humanitarian and Medical Aid
DTCare launched regional operations in Lebanon as part of its emergency response efforts during the 2020 Beirut Explosion humanitarian crisis. As the economy dwindles, the rate of citizens falling into extreme poverty is rising. DTCare established a permanent office in-country to expand its emergency relief effort into a more sustainable and long-term mission.
DTCare is proud to work alongside the Lebanese government and notable local and multinational charities as part of a larger, scaffolded effort to not only provide critically needed support and aid in some of the most impoverished communities in Lebanon but to alleviate suffering, uplift citizens, and bring about positive change within the communities we affect.
DTCare Hangar and Distribution Center
DTCare opened a storage and distribution hub for prosthetics and long-term care equipment early in 2022 in Roumieh, Lebanon. The collection point is a storage and distribution center for pre-loved and new medical equipment, mobility aid, and prosthetics. DTCare partner clinics and the military receive needed medical supplies directly from the collection point for further distribution throughout the country.
We combat inaccessibility to health care aids and support. DTCare collects, transports, and distributes donated medical equipment, mobility aids, and humanitarian supplies from our flagship in the United States to vulnerable populations across the globe. DTCare shipped and spread over 30 cargoes of supplies to communities in need in Lebanon, Ukraine, Poland, and Panama.
DTCare Lebanon received and distributed ten shipments of humanitarian supplies, with three more scheduled to arrive end-March, 2023. DTCare's first-ever medical container load arrived at the distribution facility in Roumieh in mid-January 2022. We proudly collaborate with the Rotary, Moustacharoun, Akhgawiyit Lemrouj, Saider Aider, Barouk Clinic, Beit al Diafeh, Village for Peace and Love, and Deir el Rahme to distribute medical and essential supplies throughout Lebanon.

DTCare Establishes New Partnerships with Local Charities During Fnaidek Visit
On Monday, June 19, 2023, DTCare had the privilege of visiting the Fnaidek region to engage with two esteemed non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Generation of Hope and Development and Peace. Our visit aimed to discuss the local community's critical needs and explore collaborative solutions.
Upon reaching the Generation of Hope distribution center and office, we were deeply honored to discover that both NGOs had acknowledged DTCare's exceptional contributions by awarding us the Shield of Honor. During our visit, we had the opportunity to interact with approximately 25 individuals from the region who have received aid and support from Generation of Hope. We engaged in discussions regarding the urgent needs and aspirations of the community members. The primary concern expressed by the Fnaidek community was the scarcity of employment opportunities. Many individuals expressed a desire to find employment to sustain themselves and their families. Specifically, they requested the establishment of a sewing program, as they possessed sewing skills and machinery but required a trainer to ensure the program's sustainability.
Another pressing issue highlighted during our visit was the lack of access to diapers for older people in the Akkar region. The ongoing economic crisis in Lebanon has significantly hindered families' ability to afford essential items, such as food, let alone specialized care products like diapers for older people.
In addition to our engagement with Generation of Hope, DTCare held discussions with Development and Peace NGO representatives. The focus of our conversation revolved around Development and Peace's current factory operations, primarily centered on the production of food supplies, including olive oil and jarred eggplants. Given that the Akkar region is renowned for apple production, the oversaturation of the apple market results in a considerable drop in prices, adversely affecting the livelihoods of local farmers.
Furthermore, we emphasized the significance of agriculture and the vast untapped potential of land in the Akkar region. By revitalizing agricultural activities, we can stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities for the local population.
A common thread in the feedback received from the community was the numerous challenges faced by the Akkar region due to its geographical remoteness from Beirut and the dire need for adequate employment opportunities. The people of Akkar urgently need assistance, including essential aid supplies like food, as the ongoing crisis in Lebanon has severely impacted them.
Based on the fruitful discussions held with Generation of Hope and Development and Peace NGOs, DTCare proposes implementing programs that establish a sewing initiative in Akkar, providing the necessary resources and training for employment opportunities. Additionally, we aim to address the need for diapers and promote agricultural initiatives to enhance productivity and profitability. Our objective is to improve the economic well-being of the people in Akkar and advocate for increased aid allocation to support the region.
DTCare's visit to Fnaidek and productive conversations with Generation of Hope and Development and Peace NGOs shed light on the challenges faced by the community, including unemployment, the need for essential supplies, and the untapped agricultural potential. The recognition received from both NGOs through the Shields of Honor is a testament to the significant impact of DTCare's contributions.

Starting 2023 Off with a Threefold Aid Supply
Between 27 - 28 February, DTCare and an incredible turnout of volunteers sorted and loaded over 1,000 essential hygiene, mobility, medical, and children’s supplies in three shipments bound for Lebanon. Once arrived, DTCare’s regional team in Lebanon will sort and clean the humanitarian goods at DTCare’s warehouse in Roumieh in preparation for the distribution process to begin. Distribution usually starts off with a careful evaluation of aid requests we received since our last distribution period as well as the most critical needs within the communities we affect. DTCare partnering organizations provide a list of supplies they need and schedule a time to pick up the requested supplies and quantities we can provide. DTCare’s local partners help ensure that the humanitarian and medical supplies are disseminated throughout various neighborhoods and towns across Lebanon.
Seasonal Shipment Loading Events
To ensure that the distribution center remains stocked and that the medical equipment and relief distribution initiative impacts as many lives as possible, DTCare holds a seasonal Relief and Medical Aid Loading Event, where humanitarian and medical equipment donations that accumulated over the course of four months are sorted, packaged, and packed into a 40-foot container with the help of the local Pittsburgh community. Volunteers from in and around the Pittsburgh area in Pennsylvania come together to lend a hand in loading relief containers either bound for the DTCare Prosthetic Clinic in Monte Lirio or Medical Equipment and Relief Distribution Center in Roumieh, Lebanon. DTCare’s regional team in Lebanon work alongside local nonprofit organizations and national partners to guarantee that we provide support to individuals and families that need it most. Partnering with local organizations further allows DTCare to expand our outreach and uplift as many communities as we can.
Aiding Lebanese Communities
Even though DTCare's mission in Lebanon did not start with distributing relief aid, we identified an urgent need for essential support for families struggling to make ends meet with the increasing cost of living. DTCare works alongside local NGOs and national partners to ensure that critical relief aid and medical supplies reach the people most in need. Our partnerships range from grassroots nonprofit organizations that serve various communities to the police and LAF (Lebanese Armed Forces) to help law enforcement families.
Our ties to other parts of the world allowed us to bring our first medical container into Lebanon laden with aid and medical equipment that are scarce and unaffordable due to the current economic situation. Every day, DTCare distributes essentials such as staple foods, medicine, medical equipment, baby food, and diapers that are in high demand for hardworking Lebanese families struggling with the high cost of living and lira inflation.
We provide essential support to the police, LAF (Lebanese Armed Forces), medical clinics, Beit al Diafeh, Mazraat Yachuh Clinic, Achrafieh 2020, the Lebanese Red Cross, Lebanon of Tomorrow, Arcenciel, and Deir el Rahme, to name a few. Throughout 2023, DTCare will continue to support vulnerable and at-risk families in Lebanon.
