Meet DTCare’s Youth Committee

DTCare is thrilled to partner with trailblazer Vanshika Jain and her club MMUNITES, forming DTCare's first-ever Youth Committee, giving these young people the opportunity to learn more about the nonprofit industry, give back, and involve their communities. Their group of activists focuses on empowering students to be catalysts for change. In 2019, as the Ukraine War unfolded, this passionate group of students, including some with ties to Ukraine and immigrant families like Vanshika herself, felt an urgent need to do more and make a real difference. They came together, forming a diverse team from various school districts, united by the shared belief that students possess an influential voice in shaping our world.

Their journey began with community events and swiftly expanded to include our participation in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Pittsburgh. Over the past year, the group has grown significantly and now consists of 50 student volunteers spanning grades 6 through 12. Some students have ventured into journalism and vlogging to raise awareness, while others, including talented musicians, have donated concert proceeds to meaningful causes. Their collective efforts yielded an impressive $20,000 in support of Ukraine last year. This academic year, they will be raising awareness of DTCare's mission, lending a hand, and encouraging students of all ages to get actively involved.
