Hunger Aid for Teachers
Critical Hunger Relief for Lebanese Teachers
Essential service providers in Lebanon, especially educators, are some of the most affected by the economic crisis. Hunger is rampant, especially among the child population, as food insecurity rates continue to climb. In 2022, a staggering 37% of the Lebanese and Syrian population faced acute food insecurity. With intolerable working conditions, little to no financial support, and food inaccessibility and shortages, teachers and their families desperately need food aid.
DTCare Lebanon partnered with local schools in the Roumieh region to provide emergency food assistance to 300 teachers and their households. Educators are an integral part of society and the effects of their suffering extend far beyond their households. Educators rendered unable to teach directly translate into uneducated youth. Combatting the rising hunger among teachers and their families is essential to ensuring that schooling continues and children receive a quality education.
Food Assistance for Teachers in Lebanon
The economic crisis in Lebanon stunted every sector, but the education sector is one of the most affected. Due to challenging work conditions coupled with rising food insecurity, teachers struggle to support their families. In an emergency effort, DTCare aided 300 teachers and their families by sponsoring and distributing parcels with a month-supply for five individuals of popular food staples, including one bottle of cooking oil, five cans of beans, two cans of tuna fish, a 1 kg bag of rice, one tub of Halva "Sweetness" dessert, and one jar of Tahini.DTCare sponsored and distributed parcels with a month-supply of popular food staples, including one bottle of cooking oil, five cans of beans, two cans of tuna fish, a 1 kg bag of rice, one tub of Halva "Sweetness" dessert, and one jar of Tahini.
