How is the winner selected?
The “People’s Choice” winner of Tony Hawk’s Skatepark Hero is determined through public voting and will win $10k and a skate session with Tony Hawk. The “Tony’s Pick” winner will be chosen by Tony and his team. How is DTCare involved in Skatepark Hero?
DTCare is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to assisting corporations, foundations, and individuals make a positive impact in the world. As DTCare is registered to solicit donations nationwide, we are able to accept donations from U.S. donors in all 50 states and then subsequently grant the funds to select, vetted charities that may not have the bandwidth to get registered themselves. For the Skatepark Hero competition, DTCare will receive 100% of the donations and we selected The Skatepark Project to be our designated grantee.
Where does the competition money go?
The donation to The Skatepark Project will come from votes purchased through the competition. 100% of donations raised from votes purchased during Tony Hawk’s Skatepark Hero Competition will go directly to DTCare, which will subsequently grant the donation (minus competition fees/costs and a nominal percentage (1%) by DTCare), to The Skatepark Project at the end of the competition. The donation will help support the foundation’s mission to issue grants to low-income communities by building quality public skateparks and providing guidance to city officials, parents, and children.
