How is the “People’s Choice” winner selected?

How is the “Carla’s Pick” winner selected?
Upon entry into the Quarterfinals, Favorite Chef Quarterfinalists will be able to submit one (1) or more "plating presentation" photos of a food dish the Quarterfinalist has made (e.g., appetizer/entree/dessert/etc.). Favorite Chef is proud to partner with James Beard Foundation to aid in their mission to create a more equitable and sustainable future in the restaurant industry through annual awards, industry and community-focused initiatives and programs, advocacy, partnerships, and national events.

How is DTCare involved in Favorite Chef?
DTCare is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to assisting corporations, foundations, and individuals make a positive impact in the world. As DTCare is registered to solicit donations nationwide, we are able to accept donations from U.S. donors in all 50 states and then subsequently grant the funds to select, vetted charities that may not have the bandwidth to get registered themselves. For the Favorite Chef Competition, DTCare will receive 100% of the donations and we selected James Beard Foundation to be our designated grantee.
Where does the competition money go?
The donation to James Beard Foundation will come from votes purchased through the competition. 100% of donations raised from votes purchased during the Favorite Chef Competition will go directly to DTCare, which will subsequently grant the donation (minus competition fees/costs and a nominal percentage (1%) retained by DTCare), to the James Beard Foundation at the end of the competition. The donation will help support the foundation’s mission to create a more equitable and sustainable future in the restaurant industry through annual awards, industry and community-focused initiatives and programs, advocacy, partnerships, and national events.
