How DTCare uplifts Zimbabwean youth

DTCare takes pride in our leaps towards making education and learning more accessible for underprivileged youth in Africa. Unfinished schooling and few employment opportunities are harsh realities Zimbabwean youth grapple with every day. DTCare seeks to change that. Our education sponsorship program enables children and youth to receive a quality education, mentoring, and internship opportunities while equipping them for the world that awaits after school. DTCare's approach to making education accessible is comprehensive, combining a detailed educational background evaluation, study visa advising, school enrollment support, tutoring, and internship opportunities, to help youth reach their full potential.

Providing a Lifeline to Zimbabwean Youth with Educational and Economic Opportunities

Formal education is still inaccessible for many Zimbabweans despite an overall increase in the country’s literacy rate. Illiteracy impacts an estimated 12% of the Zimbabwean population, of which the most affected are women and girls. At DTCare, we believe that inaccessibility to education exacerbates poverty and inequality. We work to help underprivileged yet motivated youth by bridging the physical and financial barriers to formal education through our education sponsorship program.

To overcome some of the barriers to formal education, especially for girls and women, we fund the schooling, board, and tutoring of Zimbabwean children and youth enrolled in schools and universities in-country and abroad.

Unequal access to education ripples into inaccessible work and economic opportunities that not only increase gender inequality but also lead to a higher rate of unemployment and poverty, particularly among women. DTCare’s education sponsorship program supports disadvantaged children and youth through quality education in Southeastern Africa.

Upon completion of primary education, we provide students with the opportunity to continue their education further to optimize their chances of employment.

The job market is dynamic and highly competitive in developed countries, it can even be volatile or even barely existent in developing countries. Good work opportunities are scarce and we aim to give students the opportunity to build a better life for themselves.

DTCare and DTSpark are joining forces to enable positive and sustainable change by promoting job creation and entrepreneurship through microloans. Microloans at reasonable repayment rates help job-seekers and prospective entrepreneurs to fund viable business ideas and training opportunities.

Entrepreneurship is particularly essential in struggling economies that are unable to support a growing workforce and need for employment. DTCare strives to empower Zimbabweans generate an income, create jobs, and ultimately uplift local economies. DTSpark equips entrepreneurs with the financial tools they need to start and run a successful business. By joining forces, we help Zimbabweans facing dwindling employment opportunities to build a business and become self-sufficient.

The likelihood of a child surviving a cancer diagnosis depends on the country in which they live — in Harare, an estimated 1 in 2 childhood cancer patients die within one year of diagnosis. Igniting hope in children facing cancer, the Rainbow Children’s Village strives to lower the mortality rate of children with cancer in Zimbabwe by providing children and their families with a restorative environment that helps them recuperate after treatment.

The Rainbow Children’s Village relies on charitable donations of monies and supplies to complete the building of all three phases, and provide housing, care, and nutritious meals for childhood cancer patients and their caregivers. DTCare aims to aid the Rainbow Children’s Village mission by collecting and sending critically needed supplies.

Assisting with the medical costs of those battling HIV and AIDS.

Medical care in Zimbabwe is so unaffordable that many families often forego treatment due to lack of funds. DTCare is helping a married couple who tested HIV positive in 2006 to receive the medical care they need.
